Have you ever walked into a place, and you instantly feel at home? Well, Puckett’s Grocery and Restaurant is that sort of place. Founded by the Puckett family in the 1950s, Puckett’s has served as a country store to several communities in Williamson County. It has always been the place to buy some food, grab a good homemade sandwich and catch up on the day’s events in the world and at home.

Andy Marshall bought the Leiper’s Fork Puckett’s Grocery in 1998. Prior to that he had owned and operated several supermarkets in the Nashville area. “After 10 years or more in the supermarket industry, I decided to sell those and serve one small town with just one store. Leiper’s Fork actually found me. I was blessed to be able to start a new business in a town I have fallen in love with that happened to be right down the road from where I was raised and graduated from high school in Franklin, Tennessee,” said Marshall.

When Marshall first bought Puckett’s, it took some time to figure just what he had. “It was the coolest little country market I’d ever seen. We were serving everyone from songwriters to business moguls to country folk. Everyone wanted to make sure we kept the famous Puckett Burgers. People would come from all around-even hop off a plane from LA-to get a Puckett Burger,” continues Marshall. “Before long, I realized what I have here is a restaurant pretending to be a grocery store. More and more customers were wanting the home-cooked meals, cherry wood smoked meats-all within the atmosphere that you can only get at a place like Puckett’s.”

In 2002, Puckett’s branched out to start a formal dinner and music program. With all of the talented writers in and around town, this Friday night writers’ show grew fast with folks coming from all over to hear some of the finest that the industry has to offer in a cool, eclectic environment.

The food started to also become quite the rage. Puckett’s was always known for burgers. Marshall then started to add his flair of expertise with upscale and down-home Southern cuisine.

Before too long, another opportunity opened up to expand Puckett’s to Marshall’s hometown and first love for community, in Historic Downtown Franklin. The music continues there, and the food is fabulous.
