Calling all “Boro-ians!” Ms. Trolley Parton is making a pitstop at the Gateway Village in Murfreesboro today! She’ll be servin’ up her trademark Southern fare Friday, March 22 at 820 North Thompson Lane, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The food truck eatery offers made-to-order bites from a renovated and historic mobile venue.
In addition to our cherry wood-smoked pork and chicken, Ms. Trolley Parton also offers BBQ and grilled chicken nachos, catfish tacos, a brisket chimichanga, fried green beans and more.
Our Trolley Manager Christen Boyd says that the Trolley’s food all comes with the Puckett’s special stamp, though some of its dishes are signature items!
“What’s unique about the trolley is that we’re able to take our menu directly to the people who may not have the opportunity to dine at Puckett’s that day because of distance. The Trolley offers the same quality food that its restaurants do, and it’s a fun way to engage in different communities.”
The food truck will also serve a Redneck Burrito on March 22, an item created specifically for the trolley that received such popularity that it made its way onto the Puckett’s menu. The dish includes pulled pork, baked beans and Puckett’s famous BBQ sauce ‘n’ slaw, all wrapped in a burrito and grilled.
For the event, Gateway Village is encouraging local musicians to provide a little entertainment to diners during Trolley Parton’s visit. Anyone interested in performing an open-mic session may sign up at the day of the event.
Our Puckett’s location on the Public Square in downtown Columbia is inviting YOU to help commemorate the inaugural lighting of our custom neon sign this Saturday, March 23 at 7 p.m., and to get a taste of our Southern-inspired eats beforehand.
The sign, created for Puckett’s by the Columbia Neon Co., is set to become a new landmark on the Square. As our guest, you can tour the restaurant and event space beginning at 5 p.m., and the Puckett’s Trolley (affectionately nicknamed Ms. Trolley Parton by her fans!) will be on-site to provide complimentary samples of Puckett’s menu items. The Volunteer String Band will accompany the fare with pickin’ performances for y’all outside from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
And (drum roll, please)……….. we’re holding our GRAND OPENING Wednesday, March 27, and servin’ our first meal at 7 a.m. that day. The Maury County Chamber of Commerce will lead a ribbon cutting for us at 10:45 a.m. on March 27–we hope to see you there, too! Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better than shrimp and grits…BAM! All the flavors that you love, rolled up and fried to crispy perfection into a single hushpuppy. I mean…come on! Here is the recipe, from our kitchen to yours. Share it with your friends and family, make it for some guests, but most of all- enjoy!
Shrimp & Grit Hushpuppies Recipe:
4 Cups Water
2 Cups Heavy Cream
3 Cups Grits
1/2 pound Butter
1 Tbl Salt
1 Tbl White Pepper
1 Tbl Chipolte Purée
1/2 Pound Shrimp Chopped
1 Tbl Green Onion (chopped)
11/2 Cup Whole Corn
1 Cup Diced Red Bell Pepper
1 Tbl Chopped Parsley
Put first 2 ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Stir in grits and simmer for 10 minutes. Slowly stir in the remaining ingredients. Once the shrimp turns pink pour the mixture onto a pan to cool. Once mixture is cooled prepare to fry. You will need plain flour, a few beaten eggs and yellow cornmeal. Using a small spoon or scoop, roll the mixture into small hushpuppy size balls. Dip into the flour, egg wash and then the cornmeal. At this time you can place them into a 365 degree fryer or skillet with oil. The Hushpuppies will fry for about 2:30 or until golden brown.
In Greek mythology, the titans were greater than even the gods. They ruled their universe with absolute power. Well, the burger… that’s our universe.
Ok y’all — tell us you caught that adaption from Remember the Titans! In all seriousness, our culinary pros in the Puckett’s kitchen have created a pretty dadgum good burger, adequately named THE TITAN. The Titan was a “Burger of the Month” a few months ago, and its loaded-with-everything characteristics caused us to attribute it to the great and powerful Greek gods (and our favorite football team, too!).
Here’s Puckett’s chef Keith West’s take on it:
“The Puckett’s burger is the number one selling item on our menu–because of that, we wanted a monthly outlet to feature burger ideas we come up with. For the first BOM, we wanted something that would appeal to all burger lovers (like myself!). A burger so big that napkins would be the side item. So I stacked two of my favorite burgers on top of one another. As people tried the burger, the remarks were: ‘now that is a Titan-sized burger!”
Because it was so delicious, we though it’d be selfish not to share with our friends! So here you go, our first “Burger of the Month” recipe post. The Puckett’s family promises your mouth will be watering before you even finish reading this recipe.
The Titan Burger Ingredients:
Start with a Brioche top bun
Layer with:
1 tbl. mayo
Leaf lettuce
2 tomato slices
Add one burger (we can’t give up our Puckett’s burger recipe y’all!)
Top with:
Pepper-jack cheese
Whip up some sautéed onions
Stack another Burger on there!
Top with 3 pickle slices
Melt a slice of cheddar cheese
Finish it off with 2 strips of bacon
and a Brioche top bun
Burger of the Month
Each month, Puckett’s chef Keith West creates a “Burger of the Month” to serve to our friends. It’s always quirky, it’s always carefully crafted and it always makes us lick our chops. We’re going to start sharing some of those exclusive recipes with you!
Between Jack and George, there’s a rich whiskey legacy in our state. And Puckett’s is takin’ full advantage of that next week!
We’re holding our first-ever bourbon tasting Wednesday, March 6 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at our downtown Franklin location.
Here’s how it’ll go: we’ll guide our tasting participants through a sampling of six regional bourbon whiskeys, and a thorough explanation of each label’s origin, distilling method and taste. Each round will include a paired appetizer, especially created for the event by our kitchen!
“We’re going to dive into the roots of each whiskey bourbon, and really educate the guests on what they’re tasting,” said Ryan Dillon, one of our Franklin managers. “Bourbon is for slow sipping, and we’ll be doing a lot of that on Wednesday.”
In addition to Ryan’s instruction, we’re hosting special guest Mike Williams, proprietor of Collier and McKeel—the small-batch whiskey distilled in downtown Nashville. Mike will speak of his experiences creating the Tennessee whiskey, and what distinguishes Collier and McKeel from other brands and bourbons. Today, the company creates the only handcrafted, charcoal-mellowed whiskey made in Middle Tennessee.
The event cost is $30 per person. To reserve a spot, call 615-794-5527.

Hey y’all! As we near the completion of our two-story space in downtown Columbia, we’re holding a three-day job fair this week to fill more than 70 staff positions.
We’re hosting interviews at our new location at 15 Public Square on Thursday, 9 a.m. to Noon and 2-6 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to Noon and 2-6 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Available positions include managers, bartenders, servers, hosts, line cooks, bussers and dishwashers.
“We have been overwhelmed by the response of the community, and we’re excited to see that enthusiasm carry over into our talent search this week,” says Director of Operations Claire Marshall Crowell. “We’re a family-owned business that focuses on treating customers like friends. We’ve been fortunate to find employees with a servant’s heart at our other locations, and we’ll be looking for personalities that fit the Puckett’s personality.”
Our downtown Columbia location will be the flagship for Puckett’s Creamery, an ice cream shop that will offer hand-churned product next door to the restaurant. We’re super excited about this project! We’ll also house a second-story event center above the creamery, which will accommodate up to 400 people.
This will be our fourth location for the Marshall family-owned Puckett’s family of restaurants (Puckett’s Boat House opened in Summer 2012), which also operates in downtown Franklin and downtown Nashville.
Puckett’s Columbia will begin serving food in mid-March! We’ll be open Tuesday through Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday and Monday for breakfast and lunch.
Interested parties can download an application at www.puckettsgrocery.com/columbia. Applicants may bring a completed form to the interview, or fill one out on site. A copy of a photo I.D. is requested, and resumes are welcome.

It will have you wishing Valentine’s Day was everyday.

Our Puckett’s family has been champin’ at the bit to tell y’all about an exciting initiative at Puckett’s Boat House that begins this Friday!
We’re launching “Puckett’s Dollar For Your Thoughts” Friday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m.–and we’re hopin’ it will generate lots of dollars for the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County over the next 11 months.
Beginning tomorrow, our bar, grill and bait shop on East Main Street in downtown Franklin will provide each table with buckets of tape and markers, and encourage customers to stick dollar bills—with their own custom messages—to the restaurant’s low ceiling. At the end of the year, all of the money pinned will be gathered and given to the Heritage Foundation.
Mary Pearce, director of the Heritage Foundation, will tape the first dollar to the eatery’s ceiling at 5 p.m. on Friday. Both the Boat House and the non-profit organization hope that a crowd will join to see Mary stick the first monies up there!
The Boat House is launching “Puckett’s Dollar For Your Thoughts” in conjunction with the Downtown Franklin Association (DFA) coordinated evening event, “Open Your Heart.” The DFA promotion will unite 24 downtown merchants, who are supporting two-dozen local charities through a collaborative fundraising effort.
The 24 businesses will leave their doors open later and donate 15 percent of sales between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to a non-profit organization of their choice. The Boat House will support the Heritage Foundation!
For a complete list of participating merchants and event details, go to www.downtownfranklintn.com/openyourheart.

“AMERICAN HERO EXPERIENCE” ON NBC SPORTS NETWORK COMES TO PUCKETT’S Marine’s Song and Story Featured in Upcoming Episode Filmed at Puckett’s 5th & Church
Ok y’all, we’ve got something pretty darn cool to announce. A NBC Sports Network show “American Hero Experience” episode is going to be filmed at Puckett’s in downtown Nashville on Saturday, Feb. 2! Outdoor Music has partnered with the show to help make a dream come true for aspiring singer/songwriter and former U.S. Marine, Markus Fox!
The network is bringing Markus to Nashville to record his song, “Sacrifices,” which will be used periodically on the new show. And he’s performin’ that song at our 5th & Church location… and sharin’ a stage with famed songwriters Wynn Varble, Don Poythress, Karen Staley, and Brad Cotter! How cool is that?
HERE’S THE THING: if you want to see the taping of the show, we’re all booked up (BUT you can call 615-770-2772 for the waiting list). However, we’ve got reservations open for later Saturday night… and you might still catch the crew + Markus!
Why Markus Fox?
Producers of the show were overwhelmed with emails about Markus and “Sacrifices” during their search for a new theme song. They invited Markus and his father to St. Petersburg, Florida to discuss using his song for the show. When the two arrived at the Guy Harvey Outpost, the producers surprised Markus with the news that they had arranged a three-day dream-come-true fishing trip with “Hit and Run” fishing charters.
About Markus Fox
Markus, who served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, had his father ship his guitar to a combat zone, and his music not only became therapy for his time away from his Alabama home, it also lifted the spirits of his fellow soldiers.
More About The Episode
During his time on the water taping the episode, Markus discussed PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and the tragic story of a friend he lost during the tour.
About “American Hero Experience” “American Hero Experience” kicked off January 10, 2013 on the NBC Sports Network. The show is co-hosted by disabled Gulf War Vet Sgt. Joe Kowalski (USMC, Ret.) and Keith Alan, who also serves as Executive Producer of the show. When Kowalski realized how fishing was helping him deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), he figured it could help other veterans, so he started a fishing outreach program. His service to our country as a Marine, and his dedication to his fellow veterans and returning service members made him a natural fit for a television series dedicated to recognizing heroes, creating awareness for their needs and illustrating the therapeutic value fishing provides.
It introduces modern day American heroes who share inspirational stories, as they discover the unique therapy that outdoor recreation provides while on ultimate experiences with pro athletes and celebrities in world class destinations.
