May 2008 Calendar
Puckett's After Hours Music Lineup

Saturday, April 5–Chris Janson
Last month he was incredible as we celebrated our 2008 season with Chris. We just had to have him back! The Missouri-born Chris Janson has electrified Nashville's country music scene. In fact, it only took two days at a local Nashville bar to incite a wave of interest from country music's biggest record labels. It could be his intense and vocally stunning performances, his remarkable ability to play the harmonica, or the depth of his songs, but there is something remarkable about this 21 year-old phenomenon. Nashville's critics been buzzing with excitement about this emerging star, and have even likened him to a combination of Mick Jagger and Hank Williams Sr. Chris readily acknowledges his influences, but he has a confidence in his identity that transcends his age. "I want to sound like Chris Janson," he says, "It's just what you see on stage, that's what you'll get on my record. I'm not afraid to push the limits. I don't have a set list at my shows, I just play songs. It's all about soul and feel". Chris will take the stage at 8 p.m. with a $10 cover, dinner is off the menu, reservations accepted 615-794-1308.

Jaime Kyle, the amazing singer / songwriter, is the woman responsible for HEART's 'Stranded', a top 10 hit in America, Country artist FAITH HILL's 'Bed Of Roses'. Ms. Kyle has also penned songs for AIR SUPPLY, BATON ROUGE (with Jack Ponti) and MINDY McCREADY... "And Then There Were 2" twins, Meg and Sophie Bowes, are a truly awesome product of the Kids on Stage program who are currently working with Walter. This promises to be a truly great start to May- don't miss it!!!

Friday, May 9–The WannaBeatles
We just love these guys! They put on a top notch show every time they take the stage, and you owe to yourself to come join in all the fun! The WannaBeatles is a high energy group of four professional musicians with a passion for the songs of John, Paul, George, and Ringo - the Beatles. These are the songs we all grew up listening to. Kids today have rediscovered the music of the Beatles which proves that great music will stand the test of time. The WannaBeatles consists of Grammy award winning and talented music producers, arrangers, studio players, and singers who have "Come Together" to play the music they grew up with. Ever since their first “all Beatles” gig together, it was love at the first note! Since then, the WannaBeatles have developed a following of regulars who look forward to the band's own special version of the “British Invasion.”

Saturday, May 10– Trent Willmon
Trent Willmon was raised in a ranch near Afton, Texas. He spent the early years of high school learning about agriculture, but at 16, he was given a guitar, and his interest in music began to grow. By his second year in college, he dropped out to join a bluegrass band. In 1995, he moved to Nashville to start a songwriting career, and by 1998 he had a song-publishing contract with Sea Gayle Music. He finally signed with Columbia Records and became a solo artist. He released two albums for the label– Trent Willmon (2004) and A Little More Livin' (2006)–in addition to charting six singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. Willmon exited Columbia's roster in 2006, and signed with Compadre Records. His third album, Broken In, was released on February 26, 2008. In late 2007, Willmon announced that he will make his acting debut in a movie entitled Palo Pinto Gold. Set for release in mid-2008, the movie will also star Roy Clark and Mel Tillis; Trent will also record music for the film's soundtrack. Willmon also co-wrote Montgomery Gentry's current single "Back When I Knew It All". He's a local favorite of many for sure, and we are thrilled to have him! Trent will take the stage at 8 p.m. with a $10 cover, dinner is off the menu, reservations accepted 615-794-1308.

Friday, May 16–Alex Harvey and Band
Always up for a good time, Alex Harvey was Puckett's first to take the stage a few years back at our Leiper's Fork location, and we always love it when he takes our stage at our Franklin location! He's still the favorite of so many of our regulars, and there's good reason. His soulful style and strong lyrics produced songs like “Delta Dawn,” and “Rueben James” and more. His current songs leave our audience feeling good and knowing they had a real good time! Book early! Alex always sells out.

Saturday, May 17–Rob Robinson
Rob Robinson is a soft-spoken Southern gentleman from Mississippi, but if you listen to the lyrics on the 6 CD’s he has written and produced, you quickly realize he has a lot to say. The listener is immediately drawn to the nuance and craft of his lyrics as well as the sonic integrity of his studio production. Rob Robinson and the Dixie UnderRunners’ CD, “When Pigs Fly” is full up with the earthy Rhythm Oil that only comes from Mississippi Mud. The jump country blues of “Cane Pole Fishing” opens the CD with a humorous romp about a boy obsessed with fishing. Rob’s unique slide guitar style shines on this and the following title track “When Pigs Fly”. “When Pigs Fly” is born from a funky backward country optimism that Dwight Yoakum would love. Track #3 “That’s Just Like You” has a country beatlesque melody that always demands another listen. Rob will take the stage at 8 p.m. with a $10 cover, dinner is off the menu, reservations accepted 615-794-1308.

Friday, May 23–Kevin Denney, Monty Holmes and Rusty Tabor
Something about Kevin Denney’s tender voice on “That’s Just Jessie” evoked the melancholy of Keith Whitley– which is a high compliment. And like Whitley, the Kentucky native cut his chops on bluegrass before finding success in country music. His self-titled debut album introduced a young man whose genuine passion for country music permeates every note. "I wanted to make music my heroes would be proud of," he says, "people like George Jones and Merle Haggard and Porter Wagoner."Monty Holmes quickly gained a reputation for his voice. He penned several songs for George Strait, including "I Know That She Still Loves Me" and the Top Ten "When Did You Stop Loving Me," as well as "What I Do The Best" for John Michael Montgomery and "Never Again, Again" for Lee Ann Womack... Rusty Tabor's first taste of success as a songwriter came when Billy Ray Cyrus recorded the poignant “Back to Memphis.” The song was a single from the Sony Records release “Time Flies,” and is also a selection on a recent greatest hits project. Cyrus also recorded Tabor’s “Wouldn’t You Do This for Me” on his critically acclaimed gospel project “The Other Side.” Experiencing success as a songwriter has been a stepping stone to what will without a doubt be a successful career as a recording artist and performer!

Saturday, May 24–The Redneck Yaught Club Band
The Redneck Yacht Club Band is made up of hit songwriters Thom Shepherd and Steve Williams. Their songs have been recorded by Craig Morgan, Montgomery Gentry, Blue County, David Ball, Buddy Jewell, Sherrie Austin, Trick Pony, Kevin Fowler, Blake Shelton, Joe Nichols and Neal McCoy. Friday, May 30–Josh Rush, Brady Seals and Randy Sharp
Josh Rush grew up listening to (and loving) bluegrass and gospel music. Somewhere in there a little Foo Fighters, AC/DC and Beatles got tossed in. Mix Country and Rock throw in some Soul and that's his genre, but it's his smooth toned voice that crosses all boundaries and entertains everyone who hears him... There are certain artists who make you stand up and take notice. Brady Seals has that commanding charisma. He began cultivating his talent when he discovered the piano at age nine. He joined a band and left home at age seventeen. By the age of twenty-one he had a gold record on the wall. After a six-year stint with the multi-platinum band, Little Texas, Brady embarked on a solo career, releasing three albums. Brady Started the band Hot Apple Pie and is currently enduring a rigorous touring schedule- we're exited to have him... Randy Sharp's a tremendous singer.songwriter and has many #1 country hits with songs like: "Why Does It Have To Be Wrong or Right" and "A Tender Lie" recorded by Restless Heart, "Nobody's Talking," "Even Now" and "Yet" with Exile and "The What" recorded by Clay Walker. He's a member of the Million-Airs Club: (songs played more than 1 million times!) with songs like "Why Does It Have To Be Wrong or Right" (two million!) and "You Will" and "Then What."

Saturday, May 17–Donna Ulisse, Jerry Salley and Carl Jackson
In the 1980's when Donna Ulisse moved to Nashville she stayed busy singing demos, which brought her to the attention of Atlantic Records where she was signed and released an album "Trouble at the Door" in 1991. After a heartbreaking ending on the major label Donna met Ray and Douglas Johnson of Hadley Music Group, her current publisher. It was suggested by a major label head and friend that Donna find her true voice through writing. Her new CD "When I Look Back" is the result of that journey. Saturday, May 24-The Sweethearts of the Rodeo

In '85 they won a high-profile Nashville talent competition that resulted in a deal with Columbia. Their self-titled debut album was released the following year, and their first single, "Hey Doll Baby," just missed making the country Top 20. The follow-up, "Since I Found You," turned out to be the first of seven consecutive Top Ten hits! Both Sweethearts of the Rodeo and its 1988 follow-up, One Time, One Night, sold well on the strength of singles like "Chains of Gold," "Gotta Get Away," "Midnight Girl/Sunset Town," "Blue to the Bone," "Satisfy You," and a bluegrass reworking of the Beatles' "I Feel Fine." Friday, May 30–Ty Nelson
In December 2005, Reader's Digest magazine described Ty Nelson as a
"Garth Brooks-styled country singer." But baby-boomers might say Ty reminds them of another wholesome guitar-playing talent with striking looks and the same surname—Ricky Nelson, a singing-songwriting star of the 1960s. Although there are similarities between the two Nelsons, such as hailing from a close-knit Southern California family, possessing a distinctive baritone voice, and attracting young teen female fans, make no mistake: Ty Nelson, 20, is a contemporary performer with a promising future. And with the 2008 release of his latest album, "Last Look Back," his career seems right on track.
